So Android hasn’t lured you away and you think the iPhone sucks, chances are that you are still sticking around with a Symbian based Nokia touchscreen smartphone (Sorry.. blackberry users, we are just talking about touchscreen devices – and please don’t try to screm about Storm/ Torch, we all know they are out by mistake ). Anyways, driving things forward, the maze like unlock screen of Android has fascinated many of us – there are app floating around for iPhone and they do something similar as well, but when it comes to paying the credits, it the Android dev team that gets them all for the idea. The concept arose from the fact that instead of presenting you a 9 key dial pad, it would look cool to put a veil of dots on top and to make things swipe as though your completing a puzzle or running through a maze. This concept has been hugely popular and now that Nokia is churning out some good quality touchscreen smartphones, the Symbian users need not wait anymore for this petty an application.
thinkchange is one of the many app stores for Symbian lovers where they can find many free and paid applications. They just started dozing out and app called Mazelock which performs the same function as that of an Android maze lock screen. Its available at no cost, and I recommend that you download it right away before this things becomes hugely popular and they start charging a few bucks in return. After installing it on your Symbian device, pay special attention to the default unlock maze code as you’d have to swipe it first before you could assing your own pattern as a screen unlock code. Aah.. there are a few goodies (addons) that come with this application – first of all you can add date and time display on the unlock screen. Then there are others like battery indicators, backgrounds etc. So you no longer have to scratch your finger around the screen whenever you wish to see the time (assuming you are a geek; you probably haven’t heard about something called a wrist watch – something that is now extinct )
Visit this webpage to download this application. It is currently supported on the following series of Nokia devices:- 5228, 5230, 5233, 5235, 5250, 5530, 5800, N97, N97 mini, X6, C5, C6, C7, N8. Strangely enough, the website also lists that this application can be ran on a few Sony-Ericsson and a samsung phone. Try it out and update us on the same.
In the mean time, if you are too afraid to try it out, watch the video below to see this app in action
