Swype for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

Ever counted the number of years you spent typing emails and texts on your iPhone or iPad! First it took you a few decades to get accustomed to on-screen typing on a QWERTY keyboard and now life sucks because you got to write that 2 page email by moving your fingers as many times as the number of alphabets present. Swype addressed this problem for Android users by enabling them to simply slide through alphabets with the help of super predictive text.

Apple as you all might know, will never allow such applications to be installed on their products – applications which are less i(sh) or Apple(ish) and which make your life easier in any way. Anyhow, the forbidden has happened. For all you people out there with jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, there is now a port of swype for you :) Hurrrrrray! It’s called iSwype

Following are the steps to set it up on your iDevice.

Remember, at the time of writing the latest version of Swype is 0.2.1; which is a very early and naive release.. so follow this at your own risk

  1. Make sure your device is Jailbroken and has Cydia installed
  2. Open up Cydia and tap on ‘Manage’ icon
  3. Now tap on ‘Sources’
  4. Tap on ‘Edit’ and then on ‘Add’. This will bring up a dialog for you to enter text
  5. Enter http://wynd.x10.mx, click Ok
  6. After the new sources have been added, search for ‘iSwype’ in Cydia.
  7. Install the app and restart springboard

Yeppie!! you have the most revolutionary onscreen typing experience available to humanity, running on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Enjoy :)
