How to fix iOS iTunes upgrade error 3200 and 3002

The latest OS for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad from the Apple bandwagon is out and the long 1.5 year wait to upgrade your iPod’s, iPhone’s and iPad’s operating system is finally over. Agreed that Apple servers are getting overloaded, but that shouldn’t stop you from upgrading your iDevice.
After utterly slow downloads, the latest set of complains are upgrade errors. Many users have been facing error codes 3002 and 3200. While upgrading, if your iTunes throws any of the following error messages

The iPad could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3002)

The iPad could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3200)

The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3002)

The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3200)

The iPod Touch could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3002)

The iPod Touch could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3200)

then we have a fix for this, after which you would be easily able to upgrade your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad.

Steps:-

  1. Download the respective iOS IPSW file from Apple’s servers (links below)
  2. After the IPSW file gets downloaded, disconnect your device from your computer and close iTunes
  3. Open The following folder (based on the OS you use:-

    Windows: %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\iTunes\iP{one|ad|od} Software Updates

    Mac: ~/Library/iTunes/iP{one|ad|od} Software Updates
  4. Copy the IPSW file in this folder
  5. Open iTunes and connect your iDevice
  6. Click on Upgrade – and this time, the upgrade would kick off with the download IPSW file
  7. The upgrade process should be super smooth now :)

I understand that file path should work but I can't find 'appdata' under my user, I can only find it under the pulic folder and that ends there…no 'roaming' folder and so on.
    Any suggestions? ? ?

Adam sorry to burst your bubble but it certainly DOES work!
I just did it on two separate computers with different iPads and it worked both times.
    The Win7 directory is C:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updat…

No way this method works. The errors are because the Apple servers are bogged down right now. You can't get around that by manually placing the update file anywhere. Garbage article. If it does work for anyone, it's complete dumb luck.
