Given that you’ve had it enough with a locked iOS 5 device; you went ahead and jailbroke it. (If you haven’t, then follow this quick tutorial to do so)
Now, its time for you to install the Mobile Terminal a.k.a. a command line tool for your iOS device that will foremost help you change the root password so that you can be wary of the prying eyes that can get your jailbroken device while you are taking a free ride on a publicly available WiFi network.

The currently available version of Mobile Terminal on Cydia won’t work as is, so follow the steps below to install it in a different way:-

  1. Open Cydia and look for iFile
  2. Download and install it
  3. Now visit this link from your iOS device, to download the Mobile Terminal
  4. Download the file and open it in iFile
  5. Click on installer and reboot your device

Follow these steps Change root password for your iOS 5 device:-
