The first untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 has been released and its called Absinthe. The collective effort by Pod2G, P0sixNinja, MuscleNerd, Planetbeing and Saurik A.K.A. the dream team has made it possible by fixing most of the errors.

The jailbreak is going to retain the state after restart as well (which earlier was an issue). All iPhones running firmware version 9A405 and 9A406 i.e. iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 can be jailbroken using Absinthe. All the lovely jailbroken apps and themes are now just a few seconds away

The jailbreak also promises a completely functional Siri port so all older versions of iOS can rock with Siri.
